Sample Itinerary - France

Day 1

Melbourne Tullamarine International Airport for departure to France.

Day 2

Arrive in Paris, hotel check in; docks of the Bâteaux Parisiens cruise on the Seine; Eiffel Tower.

Day 3

Opéra Garnier, guided tour of the Opéra Musée Grévin; wax work figures of both famous French and international characters; Place des Vosges in the Marais; Victor Hugo house.

Day 4

Louvre museum; guided tour of le Musée du Louvre Jardin des Tuileries; Place de la Concorde and Champs-Elysées, Arc de Triomphe.

Day 5

Ile de la Cité, Notre Dame cathedral. Artist’s quartier of Montmartre; Sacré Coeur visit to basilica; Place du Tertre (Toulouse Lautrec).

Day 6

Chateau de Versailles: 1.5 hour guided tour of the Chateau; Galerie des Glaces; park of Versailles the Grand Canal; 2 hour bike ride in the park / 1 hour boat ride.

Day 7

Quartier Latin; monuments the Panthéon and the Sorbonne. Galeries Lafayette 1895 department store.

Day 8

Amiens 1st World War, part of the Tour Vision of the first worldwide conflict [1914-1918].

Day 9

Visit to local primary school in Amiens; Tour in old centre of Amiens; cathedral (memorial plaques Allied armies) old quartier of Saint-Leu; labyrinth of canals. Visit Les Hortillonages (guided boat rides).

Day 10

WWI Somme Battlefields; Ovillers la Boisselle (Lochnagar mine crater) Pozières (Australian troops fought in 1916); Tank Memorial; The Windmill; Monument to the 1st Australian Division (Gibraltar); Thiepval, the biggest Memorial in the World, Beaumont-Hamel (Park of Newfoundland; trenches; unknown grave); Le Hamel (Australian Corps Memorial Park); Villers Bretonneux; white stone Australian Memorial; Australian Museum, Unknown Australian Soldier at Adelaïde Cemetery.

Day 11

Coach and transfer to Paris CDG Airport for flights home.

Day 12

Arrival in Australia
